The Charles River Jazz Festival (CRJF) presented by the Boston Jazz Foundation is back for its 6th Annual entertainment extravaganza at a new location, Hatch Memorial Shell. An evening event designed for community partners and faculty to come together and dive deeply into the pressing questions, concerns, and challenges they face in their collaborative work. Curated by Becca Berkey and Dzidzor Azaglo, this session invites participants to reflect on and share the issues that “keep them up at night,” serving as a launching point for honest dialogue, mutual understanding, and collective problem-solving.

From Tuesday, September 23rd through Friday, September 26th, community members are invited to explore The Way Were: Roxbury Black Wall Street, 1900-1965, a multi-day series of research presentations, oral histories, and performances on Roxbury’s rich history. This four-day celebration of Black entrepreneurship, art, culture and history was envisioned, curated and planned by Marie Firmin, CEO & President of BlackBiz Development Group LLC and an active member of the Roxbury community. Each day focuses on a different aspect of the Black experience and history. Reckonings is proud to participate in Firmin’s celebration of Roxbury’s vibrant nightlife with a historical exhibition on Roxbury jazz musicians and clubs. The Charles River Jazz Festival returns for its 5th annual celebration on Saturday, July 12th, from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., at the Herter Park Amphitheater in Allston, MA. This all-day, outdoor festival brings together an eclectic mix of jazz, soul, and international sounds, featuring performances by acclaimed trumpeter Keyon Harrold, genre-blending ensemble Freelance, pianist Christian Sands, Brazilian duo Caio e Jess, and drummer Ivana Cuesta.
